How to have a good start of the day ☀️
🕖 STEP 1 : HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET YOUR DAY STARTED
This is probably the ONE rule that a lot of people are not respecting but that can totally change their morning.
The reason for not having enough time? Snoozing. The reason for snoozing? Haven’t slept enough, still tired.
Instead of snoozing and trying to sneak in a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning, try to go to bed earlier the night before. And enjoy the additional time you have to get ready in the morning. With less rush, you will definitely be let’s furious.
🎶 STEP 2 : HAVE A “GOOD MOOD” PLAYLIST
Blasting music that you like and makes you feel good while you get ready is a perfect way to kickstart your morning on a positive note. Or you can search for a ready-made playlist on youtube or soundcloud for example. Just find whatever works best for you, as some prefer chill music in the morning and others, upbeat. Also some might prefer no music at all, just silence.
STEP 3 : THE PAST IS THE PAST, FOCUS ON THE FUTURE
If you had a rough day yesterday, don’t think about it too much. Just tell yourself that what happened, happened and you can’t go back to change the past. Instead, think about today. Tell yourself that, “yes, yesterday wasn’t the best but I’m going to make today a great and I’m going to kill it.”
💭 STEP 4 : THINKING +++
I believe in the theory that says “what you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” In other words, what you think is what you attract.
A perfect example that shows how you see/think things can totally change your day, is the commute to work. During the morning there’s a lot of rush and it can easily irritate many people. If someone accidentally pushes you, you might get angry because you are already furious about arriving on time at work.
Whereas if your mindset is more positive, you might be disturbed for a moment but you will tell yourself that they didn’t mean to and that it’s ok because nothing serious happened to you and you will just go on with your day. Whereas the “negative person” will be thinking a series of things : “Is that person serious? Why can’t that person be more careful…” and will do a whole thing out of an unintentional thing.
Another way to describe the theory: You wake up in the morning, if you tell yourself “today it’s raining, so it’s a bad day”, you are setting your mind on “negative MODE”. So most likely, everything that happens on that day will go through the “negative filter” and everything will seem to confirm your bad day and it will most likely stay a bad day.
I know that for some, it might seem impossible to do but trust me, everyone can achieve this type of mindset by training your mind to, over and over again. As human beings we can’t achieve this way of thinking 100%, even the most positive people sometimes have “their days”. And that’s totally normal!
One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.
💪 STEP 5 (OPTIONAL): GET IT SWEATIN’
Some people prefer to work out in the afternoon, others prefer in the morning. Personally, I find that working out in the morning helps my body to wake up. In addition to that, I won’t have the reminder in my head that is telling me to work out later on. I prefer to get it done and out of the way, to then be focused on work, the rest of day.
🗓️ STEP 6 : PLAN AHEAD
Planning and having an idea in your head of what you want to achieve or what you need to do today is a good habit to have. Some prefer to precisely plan everything by their schedule down “to make today, their day.” And I mean, who else knows that satisfying feeling at the end of the day when you ticked everything you had to do. Nothing feels better than when you’ve done everything you had to do.
⏰ STEP 7 : ALARM RINGTONE
One thing that used to affect my mood when I wake up, was my alarm clock ringtone. I used to have a ringtone that imitated an old phone sound, and I would usually have a moment of bad mood when I woke up. But since I changed to a new ringtone, I usually wake up in a good mood and I’m happy to start the day. So you might better opt for soothing wake-up tunes instead of the incredibly loud-ringing bell, to wake you up with the proper mood.
I know this tip might be obvious for some but not everyone is doing it.
So that’s it for my tips on how to make today, your day. There are of course tons more methods, but I could write a whole book about it. So that’s why these tips are those that I consider to be the most essential and they are also the ones that I personally use.
That’s it for now! See you in my next post!!
